Driving along at 45mph, minding my own business when...BAM. Two giant holes punch through my wheel. I’ve never seen anything like this. I have no idea what I hit. On the bright side, it was my first time changing a wheel on the side of the road.

Did you drive over live ammunition?

Maybe the U-bolt part of a cable clamp? I could picture one tightened up all the way on a piece of too-small cable, which could help make sure the pointy ends were up.

Possibly those metal stakes in the ground that are like braided n shit.
Or you somehow got shot at.

Look like bullet holes to me. Someone shot at you with an automatic set to blow 2 rounds.

I’m trying to see how changing a tire on the side of the road is, in any way, a bright side. Aside from the experience, that is. But also, I can’t imagine what the hell happened. Was there anything left inside the tire?

Yeah, it's the experience. I know it sounds silly, but still. I've looked around the wheel well can't see anything. I'm going to try to find anything that may be left in the tire. The weirdest part is that there are two holes in the wheel but only one in the tire.

Bizarre. Last summer, driving through Greensboro, NC with my family on our way to VA, we had a
catastrophic blowout
of the right front. Fortunately, we were only about a mile from a tire store, and we were back on the road in about an hour. But changing a tire on the side of an interstate is indeed an experience. I got my kids and my wife out of the van and had them stand up the hill and behind the guardrail while I was working. No way I would leave them inside. I’ve seen too many cases of drivers getting nailed on the side of the road.

If there weren’t two holes so close together, I’d be pretty sure someone shot at you. Those distinctly look like bullet holes

Don’t worry. I blame South Carolina.

I agree, they look very much like a 5.56. The only thing that makes that seem impossible is that there is only one hole in the tire.

Saw one like this a few months ago, except it had an 11mm wrench still stuck in the wheel.

Maybe one is stuck in the inside rubber.
